Meet the Doctor

Dr. Vernice graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in 1988.  He went on to complete a General Practice residency in the Department of Surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Since completing his training, Dr. Vernice has attended countless continuing dental education courses in all aspects of dentistry including Oral surgery, Implants, Cosmetics, Endodontics, Prosthodontics, Periodontics, Infection Control and Sterilization Techniques.  As a result of his commitment to continuing his education, Dr. Vernice received the prestigious Fellowship Award from the Academy of General Dentistry.  This award is given to those member dentists who have taken over 500 hours of continuing dental education and passed a very difficult multidisciplinary examination within 10 years.

As well as continuing to further his own education, Dr. Vernice is a full time instructor at New York University College of Dentistry, in the Department of Cariology and Comprehensive care.

In addition, Dr. Vernice is a member of the Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team under the direction of the Department of Homeland Security, of which he is a founding member, and the Department of Health and Human Services.

As a Forensic Odontologist, Dr. Vernice is called upon to aid in identifying victims of mass disasters.  He has been awarded numerous awards for his work including a Congressional Citation in 2001 for assisting after 9/11 as well as the New York State liberty Award for his assistance with the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Dr. Vernice is a member of the American Dental Association, the Dental Society of the State of New York, the Second District Dental Society, the Nassau County Dental Society, the academy of General dentistry, the American Society of Forensic Odontology and the New York Forensic Society.
